Garden of Eden in Brussels

The gardens of the Museum Van Buren in Brussels. In 1924 the gardens covered only 26 ares (100 m²), and now cover 1,5 ha. There is great harmony of style and time between the J Buyssens’s garden and the Art Deco house. 45 years later, Alice Van Buren considered René Pechère’s gardens as a complement of her villa. The actual garden is made of the ” Picturesque Garden “, ” The Labyrinth ” and ” The Garden of the Heart “. The ” Picturesque Garden ” was designed by Jules Buyssens, a landscape architect, in the twenties, and represents the geometrical ideas of the Art Deco. This jewel of greenery in the center of Brussels can be visited all year round and is especially beautiful in the fall.

Poem of Nature

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.
John Muir

Palladian Bridge – Wilton House Gardens (HDR)

Wilton House Gardens, near Salisbury in Wiltshire.

This structure is the world famous Palladian Bridge spanning the Nadder River. The 9th Earl of Pembroke, Henry Herbert, was an architect who built the Palladian Bridge in 1737.

I chose this angle of the bridge to show off the intricate stone carvings on the underside of the roof of the bridge. This is very easy to miss and I have no doubt that most visitors to Wilton House are completely unaware of it’s presence.

HDR image: 5D Canon, mounted on sturdy Manfrotto tripod and shutter release used. The sun was shining virtually right into the lens just to the left of the bridge. I had to wait until clouds covered over the sun enough to take batches of images. In this batch of images I took nine exposures but from these this HDR image was produced using six exposures. Processed in Photomatix Pro & Photoshop.
