The formal part of the garden, seen here, is mainly planted with annuals. This is not how it looked like at Monet’s time, when it had a more rustic feel, but it’s impressive all the same. Maintenance of the present garden is extremely labour-intensive, but considering the large numbers of tourists flocking to this famous place, money should not be a problem. The picture shows the formal part of the garden in May 2010.
